For those of us working day-to-day in an office environment, it can be hard to know just what type of shoe is the right one to wear 9-5, 5 days a week, with a balance between comfort and style imperative. Here at Gentle Grip, we’re always thinking of how to maintain healthy feet, here are a few of our recommendations.

Go easy on the insulation!

During the colder months of the year, it’s a great idea to wear particularly well insulated footwear to stay warm. However, when the sun comes out and spring temperatures arrive, it’s a good idea to ditch the big boots, the earlier the better as fungal infections and sweaty feet are two common occurrences.

Be comfortable

Despite modern styles leaning towards pointed ends, for both men and women, excessive use of them can lead to discomfort. The enclosed ends of this style of shoe can lead to hammertoes, bunions and general pain. Just remember it’s not always style over substance, boxed shoes can be just as stylish as their pointed counterparts.

Keep it professional

Obviously, this’ll come down to your workplace’s own footwear policy, but try not to be too inappropriate! Any accessories, like bows, or garish colours might look good at home, but in the boardroom for an important meeting? Probably not.
